Proselon exists because the models kept forgetting our stories, and writers working at the length of a novel deserved better than that. It is a writing app for novelists and serial writers with an AI co-writer built into it. A clean writing room, and beside it a structured story bible holding manuscripts, plot, worldbuilding, style, research and publishing matter, all of which the co-writer reads and keeps consistent as the book lengthens. It helps you plan, draft and revise. You remain the creative decision-maker at every step, and nothing happens without your say-so.
It runs on your own Claude, ChatGPT or Grok account, signed in the way you always sign in, or on free local models you run yourself through Ollama or LM Studio. No API keys, no metered usage, no per-word charge from us. Your whole book stays as plain files on your own computer, and there is no cloud manuscript storage and nothing to be locked into. Proselon itself is $6 a month or $50 a year, free for the first 30 days without a credit card, and it is a download for Mac and Windows.
Artistic commitment
We aspire to build a tool that helps make the next generation of good work, rather than a machine for flooding the internet with books nobody chose to write, and rather than an instrument for producing harmful or dangerous content. AI raises hard and legitimate questions for writers, from the manner in which these models were trained to what they portend for the craft — and we cannot settle those debates from here. What we can govern is the tool itself: one in which the human is always the author, and the technology serves the frontier of human creativity rather than replacing the person standing at it.
Environmental commitment
AI tools carry an environmental cost, and we would rather account for ours than leave it unmentioned. We have committed to calculating this tool's impact, assessing how much it is feasible to give against that impact, and determining which charities we ought to support in order to offset what we find.
